So...Sunday night Livy had a really bad cough. She was so bad that she ended up throwing up in her bed. Me, thinking it would be smart to have her sleep in the guest bed with me, was so mistaken!!! I learned my lesson. She was much happier in the bed with me but neither of us got more than an hour of sleep. It didn't help that she wasn't feeling well...poor baby.
Monday she woke up with a really bad cold. She still had the awful cough and nasty runny nose. She seemed drained...but that was probably bc she didn't sleep well. We went to Walgreens to get some medicine. The pharmacist was helping me find something for her cough bc there were so many to choose from. Most of the medicines were for 4 and up. I thought that 2 was when kids could start taking meds...but I was wrong. They just recently changed it to 4. So...we picked out some meds and he told me to call my pediatrician and get the correct dosage.
I called the pediatrician when we got back home. The nurse told me they don't recommend any meds for children under 4. So...I just took my sick kid to the store to get meds and now you tell me I can't use them??? By this point I was a bit frustrated with everything!!!
The nurse asked if I wanted to come see the doctor. I figured, I might as well bc maybe if they hear Livy's cough, they will give her something for it. So, we made a 1:15 appt.
We both took a 2 hour nap and then got up to get some lunch before the doctor's appt. At the doctor's office, we signed in like usual. The receptionist never called us back up for our co-pay like normal, but sometimes they do it at the end. So...we waited patiently...until 4 other patients were called ahead of us. Evidently we had been skipped. Again, I was getting frustrated bc I was trying to keep Livy away from the toys and books since she was sick. I didn't want her to spread her germs to the other kids. But, by this point, we had been in the waiting room over 45 minutes. Not happy about this. I went and said something to the receptionist and she didn't act like it mattered. Still...not happy!!!
But, I let it all go. They took us back to the room. The doctor came in about 15 mins later. She found out that Livy had an ear infection. So...I was glad we came, even if we did have to deal with all the drama!! We got a prescription for the ear infection and left.
We went to Schuncks, the local grocery store here, to get the prescription filled bc they give antibiotics for free!!! We turned in the prescription and they said 20 mins. So, we did a bit of shopping. Now, you can imagine how fun this was with a sick child who was exhausted and needed another nap. She ended up getting Dannon smoothies and fruit snacks while we waited!!! So...20 minutes went by and I went to get the prescription. I was told, it would be 20 minutes...WHAT??? I already waited 20 minutes....and can you not see my very sick child. AHHHHHH
We went and paid for our groceries and then went to the car. We waited 15 minutes in the car...Livy watched Mickey on my Iphone (thank God for You Tube!!). So, we pull up to the drive thru window to get the meds and they don't even have it mixed up. With Amoxicillin, you don't mix it up until you give it to the customer bc it has to be refrigerated. So why did I have to wait 45 minutes to get it???
By the time we got home, both of us were frustrated and annoyed!!!! But, Livy got Tylenol and Amoxicillin to make her feel better. She also got a bath of Johnson's soothing vapor bath soap. She seemed to feel better before bed.
Luckily, she only woke up a few times last night and got a good night sleep!!! Today was much much better!!!
This is my poor baby Monday before her doctor's appt. She was not feeling well at all.
