Today (January 8, 2011), Livy had her first birthday party!!! Man...who knew a birthday party would be so hard to plan and throw!!! It took me about 2 months to find a place to hold the party that wasn't going to charge me an arm and a leg. And then today, when we got there, the room we had paid to use was being used by another group. The pastor came out when I came in and talked to me. She was evidently unaware that the room had been booked. They were having a meeting of their own. We looked at the calendar and our party was on it!! Thank goodness!!! She was flustered and seemed very upset...she even told me she needed a minute to collect herself bc she was very upset with her secretary at that moment. Finally, her group moved all of their stuff out of the room...but still had to use the kitchen. They finally got out at about 11:10ish...which is when we finally got to get in there and set up. Needless to say, I was a little stressed at that point. But, the rest of the day seemed to go well. We got the food ready and everyone ate some yummy hotdogs, chicken nuggets, fruit, and chips. Livy did good with all the people there at first...then she got a little fussy, but I think she was just getting hungry!!!
Finally it was time for the cake!!! Livy didn't know what to do at first. She put her fingers in it and licked it. Then she was watching everyone and smiling. She went to pick up the plate and play "Where's Livy" with it but her mom stopped her!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY???? It was mommy reflex...sorry!!! It would have been hilarious to have her put the cake right in her face but I messed it up...oh well!!! She still did great with the cake...she had it all over her!!
When it came down to presents, she was not too interested. She did open most of the presents though!!!
Overall, Livy did great with all the commotion!!! We enjoyed spending this special day with all our wonderful friends and family!!
AND...next week we get to do it all again in Kannapolis!!!
