Day 3 - Going Home!!!

We had begged to leave the hospital as soon as possible, mostly because it was difficult for Jay and Olivia to find time to come up to the hospital and because Olivia was getting in trouble so much since there was nothing for her to do. So...my doctor came by on day 3 (9/12). I told her I wanted to go home and that I felt fine. She said she would discharge me if I promised to take it easy...of course!!! So...I was discharged.

Now, we just had to wait on Caroline to get discharged. She was checked out by the pediatrician that morning and had lost 10% of her birth weight. She was down to 7lbs, 5oz. They don't like a baby to lose that much weight. They wanted us to supplement with formula. We had no problem with that as long as our baby was getting what she needed. They also discovered she had jaundice. She actually had a high level of this because she wasn't getting the nutrients she needed. My milk had not come in yet so she wasn't getting enough to eat. They were willing to send her home as long as we would supplement breastfeeding with formula and put her on a bili-blanket for her jaundice. We had no problem with either of these. I made an appointment at our pediatrician for the following day to get her rechecked. The hospital ordered us a bili-blanket to be sent to the house. We were also scheduled an appointment to have blood drawn early the next morning so they could check her jaundice levels again. So, we had everything set up and were free to go.

It was soooooo awesome to be home!!! When we finally made it home, it was naptime for us all!!! Jay made stirfry for dinner and we all relaxed some!!! We even made it through the night!!!
